Our client is a care leaver and has been struggling with anxiety and depression since leaving care. They came to us with council tax arrears, dual fuel and water arrears. Our Money Adviser asked our client’s GP to complete a Debt & Mental Health Evidence Form and wrote to creditors to ask for write-offs. Water and dual fuel balances were cleared and our client set up affordable payment plans going forward.
Our client submitted a Section 13A application to clear council tax arrears – this was rejected and our client returned to us for support, very anxious and upset. Our Money Adviser successfully appealed on our client’s behalf and the debt is no longer due to be paid. Our client is extremely relieved and said this is a great weight off their shoulders.
